Title IV, Student Support & Academic Enrichment Grants
(New with ESSA, FY18)
With the passing of the new "Every Student Succeeds Act" (ESSA), a new opportunity for grant funding was established to assist districts with the following:
1.)  Providing Well-Rounded Education Opportunities (ESEA section 4107)
2.)  Safe and Healthy Students  (ESEA section 4108)
3.)  Effective Use of Technology  (ESEA section 4109)

 Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program
(The Federal Government discontinued funding for this Program in the 2010-11 School Year; however, Hamblen County is dedicated to providing safe and drug-free schools for our students.) 
 
 
Title IV, Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program was designed to encourage the creation of safe, disciplined, and drug-free learning environments that will help all children meet challenging academic standards. The program provides support for school and community-based programs to help our nation’s communities prevent alcohol and other drug use, as well as youth violence.
 
Hamblen County Schools uses Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities program funds combined with other funding sources to provide the following:
 
 
      *School Resource Officers (SROs) serving the elementary, middle and high schools
    
 
      *School counselors in all thirteen elementary and primary school sites, and
    
 
      *Professional development to support violence prevention and conflict
       resolution efforts by school counselors and teachers.
