Superintendent Statement About School Threats

The Hamblen County Department of Education had students make threats on Thursday, Feb. 22, at East High and Lincoln Middle schools, according to Dr. Jeff Perry, superintendent of Hamblen County Schools.

Both students have been apprehended by law enforcement and are currently in custody.
"All students are safe and we will have school on a regular schedule," Dr. Perry said. "It is critical that parents communicate with their children that Hamblen County Schools and law enforcement will take all threats seriously and that students will be charged."
"We encourage all parents to carefully monitor social media in which their children are involved to prevent issues of this nature from occurring," Dr. Perry said.
