Dr. Shahin Assadnia, elected to his seat last September, is board member in Districts 1 and 2.  

This is Dr. Assadnia’s second time to serve on the Hamblen County School Board, previously serving the unexpired term of the late Charles Cross.

He serves the board on the Policy, Finance, and Health and Safety committees.

A surgeon with East Tennessee Vascular Center in Morristown, he is board certified in general and vascular surgery

A graduate of Virginia Tech, with a B.S. in biology, Dr. Assadnia received his M.D. from Medical College of Virginia and did his general surgery residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he also was a Vascular Research Fellow and Administrative Chief Resident.

Dr. Assadnia was a Vascular Surgery Fellow at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.

Named Outstanding Surgical Resident at of the Year in 2000, his awards include First Place Presentation at the Toledo Surgical Society on “Strain Differences in Neoinitimal Hyperplasia in the Rat.”

He and his wife, Carole Elizabeth Boniface, have three children, Rebecca, Alexander, and Sophie.
