Title
I
The Improving America's Schools
Act of 1994 reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education
Act of 1965 (ESEA). Title I of the ESEA is designed to help
disadvantaged children meet challenging content and student
performance standards. Part A of Title I embraces the following
fundamental strategies to address the needs of children served:

A schoolwide focus on improving
teaching and learning.

Flexibility at the local level
with clear accountability for results.

More focused targeting
of resources on the neediest schools.

Stronger partnerships between
schools and communities to support the achievement of children
served.
Schools in Hamblen County
with the greatest percentage of students qualifying for free
and reduced lunches receive Title I funding.. Eight Hamblen
County schools receive Title I funds, including Fairview-Marguerite
Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Lincoln Heights Elementary,
West Elementary, Whitesburg Elementary, Witt Elementary, Lincoln
