Title
I Part A
Title
I, Part A Improving the Academic Achievement
of the Disadvantaged performance standards.
Part
A of Title I
Title I is the largest single program of federal aid for
elementary and secondary education. Using a poverty-based
formula, Title I, Part A allocates funds to
offset the effects of poverty on the educational opportunities of low-performing
children in high-poverty schools in order to enable all students to be able
to reach the NCLB goal of “all students” achieving proficiency
on state performance standards. The following Hamblen County schools are Title
I schoolwide project schools based on the percentage of students qualifying
for free or reduced lunch:
Through
a combination of Title I and local funds, Hamblen County Schools
employs a full-time reading district reading
specialist. Six Title I elementary schools use Title funding to
provide a school level reading teacher. District Reading
Specialist, Eva Thompson,
coordinates reading and language programs in all Hamblen County
schools.
Other Title I district-level personnel include Gail
Newman, Federal Programs Bookkeeper, and Kim
Fox ,
Federal Programs Supervisor.
