II, Part D
Enhancing Education Through Technology (Ed Tech)
Title II, Part D funds are new federal monies available to local districts
for the first time through subgrants from the state. The goal of the Ed Tech
program is to improve student academic achievement through the use of technology
in elementary and secondary schools. It is designed to assist every student
in becoming technologically literate by the end of eighth grade. Ed Tech program
funds are also designated for effectively integrating technology resources
and systems with professional development and curriculum development to promote
research-based instructional methods that can be widely replicated.
Hamblen County Schools uses Ed Tech
funds in the following ways:

To provide professional development to teachers,
principals, and other school staff through the services of a
technology trainer,

To provide support of an effective technology
infrastructure, and
-
To support technology efforts to promote parent
and family involvement and communication.

PLATO Integrated Learning System is available
for Middle and High School Student remediation and advancement
in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies
