Title II, Part D
Enhancing Education Through Technology (Ed Tech)

Title II, Part D funds are new federal monies available to local districts for the first time through subgrants from the state. The goal of the Ed Tech program is to improve student academic achievement through the use of technology in elementary and secondary schools. It is designed to assist every student in becoming technologically literate by the end of eighth grade. Ed Tech program funds are also designated for effectively integrating technology resources and systems with professional development and curriculum development to promote research-based instructional methods that can be widely replicated.

Hamblen County Schools uses Ed Tech funds in the following ways:

  • To provide professional development to teachers, principals, and other school staff through the services of a technology trainer,

  • To provide support of an effective technology infrastructure, and

  • To support technology efforts to promote parent and family involvement and communication.

  • PLATO Integrated Learning System is available for Middle and High School Student remediation and advancement in Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies

Howard Sisco is the Supervisor of Technology for Hamblen County Schools.
