Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program
Title IV, Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Program is designed to
encourage the creation of safe, disciplined, and drug-free learning environments
that will help all children meet challenging academic standards. The
program provides support for school and community-based programs to help
our nation’s communities prevent alcohol and other drug use, as
well as youth violence.
Hamblen County Schools uses Safe and
Drug-Free Schools and Communities program funds combined with other
funding sources to provide the following:
-
Four School Resource Officers (SROs) in the
middle and high schools,
-
School counselors in all thirteen elementary
and primary school sites, and
-
Professional development to support character
education and violence prevention efforts by school counselors
and teachers.
