Education of Homeless Children and Youth
Hamblen County applied for and received
a Stewart B. McKinney Education of Homeless Children and Youth
grant for school year 2004-2005. The purpose of the grant is to
facilitate the enrollment, attendance, and success for homeless
children and youth in public schools, including preschools. Services
provided by Hamblen County through this grant include:

A Homeless Liaison, responsible for identifying
homeless students and families and linking them to available
services,
-
A full-time remediation tutor for homeless students
at the YES Shelter,
-
A part-time tutor to work with homeless students
in other district schools,
-
Tutorial services for identified homeless students
at CEASE, MATS, and YES,
-
Summer program tutors for homeless students,
and,
-
School supplies for homeless students.
