GED
+ Two
In
the State of Tennessee a person can take the General Equivalency
Diploma (GED) test at the age of 18. However, after the State
changed the compulsory school attendance age from 17 to 18 they
developed a GED preparation program for 17 year olds. These 17
year olds MUST be at risk for dropping out of school.
An
example of an at-risk student would be a 17 year-old freshman,
a teen parent, someone who has been through the juvenile court
system or someone who has been expelled from school due to disciplinary
reasons. In Hamblen County we have what we call our 17 year-old
GED program that is housed at the Technology Center. The instructor
is Ms. Vicki Jarvis.
