Cross country is a difficult sport with a short season. To excel to your potential, you need to run year-round. This is difficult for most. Could you run for 30 minutes without stopping? Could you run 2 miles in 12 minutes? With the pain you feel in your chest, the dryness and burning in your throat, the cramps in your sides and legs, the heaviness of your shoes and the beating of your heart in your ears running is a difficult task, especially when you are being timed.
