Hillcrest Elementary

 Hillcrest Elementary's Teacher of the Year.....Mrs. Leslie Brooks

 Leslie Brooks, a physical education teacher for the last 25 years, is Hillcrest's teacher of the year. She received her B.S. in health and physical education from UT Chattanoga. Before joining the Hillcrest faculty in 1986, she taught in Dalton, Georgia. She is a member of the Tennessee Association of Physical Education, Health, Recreation and Dance.

Mrs. Brooks has served on the Title I committee and is a grade level chair at Hillcrest. She has presented educational topics at workshops for physical education teachers. During her tenure, Hillcrest was selected by the state as a National Demonstration Center for Physical Education. Mrs. Brooks was co-recipient of a $3000 grant honoring developmentally appropriate PE programs and has served as a member of the national evaluation team.

Mrs. Brooks is a volunteer for the American Heart Assoication and is the school's Jump Rope for Heart coordinator.
