Hillcrest Elementary

The second grade teachers at Hillcrest include Jill Fishburn, Shirley McCurry, Susan Reams, and Alice Shugart.

Mrs. Jill Fishburn is the current second grade chairperson and Title I committee representative. She has been teaching at Hillcrest for 9 years out of her 17 year career. "I love working together with children and their parents to help students succeed." She is married to her husband, Terry, and has two daughters, Courtney and Brittany. In her spare time Mrs. Fishburn likes to read, work in her yard, and walk.

Mrs. Shirley McCurry is enjoying her 8th year at Hillcrest among her 15 years of teaching. She is married and has two children, Ford and Rebecca. "I like encouraging the students to become the best they can be."

Ms. Susan Reams is a new teacher and is starting her career at Hillcrest. She enjoys encouraging all students to be te best they can be. Ms. Reams has a 13 year old daughter, loves to scrapbook, play with her dogs, and swim. You may email Ms. Reams at sreams@hcboe.net

Mrs. Alice Shugart loves helping a student become an independent learner. She feels this is the most powerful gift she can give to a student. As a teacher of 21 years, 15 of which have been spent at Hillcrest, Mrs. Shugart's class has won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in the Director's Writing Contest. Her husband, Bob, is a pharmacist and the family likes to work on and show their 1957 Chevy and 1930 Model A. They also boat, travel, garden, and complete home improvement projects together.
