The third grade teachers at Hillcrest include Mrs. Paulena Tripucka, Mrs. Betty Murphy, Mr. Steven Hasselbusch, and Mrs. Amanda Byard.
Mrs. Amanda Byard is enjoying her third year of teaching this year. She has previously taught eighth grade and enjoys inspiring children to achieve the most success they can in education. "I love working with the students and enjoy the kids' energy." Mrs. Byard does not yet have children of her own, but loves to spend time with new husband, Adam. She also enjoys shopping, scrapbooking, painting, and working crossword puzzles - especially Soduku puzzles.

Mr. Steve Hasselbusch is the current coach of the Hillcrest girls basketball team. A welcome addition to Hillcrest, Mr. Hasselbush has enjoyed playing The Cat in the Hat during Literacy Day for Hillcrest students.

Mrs. Betty Murphy was revoted as Hillcrest's teacher of the year for 2005. She is celebrating her 41st year of teaching, 20 of it spent helping the students and families of Hillcrest. "I enjoy talking to and being around children and especially seeing the look on their faces when they finally understand," she says. When not teaching, Mrs. Murphy enjoys reading, watching sports, and cooking.

Mrs. Paulena Tripucka enjoys sewing, scrapbooking, singing, reading, and being with her family. She and her husband David have two children, Sarah and Caleb. Having taught for eleven years, seven of which have been spent at Hillcrest, Mrs. Tripucka loves watching children learn and getting to know students and families. "I love learning!"
