Union Heights
Elementary School
History
Old Lowland School was one of the first
high schools in Hamblen County. Intermont and Lowland schools
eventually merged and, in 1951, Lowland and Springvale Schools were
consolidated to form Union Heights Elementary School.
The site for Union Heights School was
purchased in 1950 and the building completed in 1951. The original
school building has been renovated three times. The most recent
additions were to install central heat and air conditioning units,
replace the floor tile, lower all the ceilings, and improve the
lighting in the classrooms. One classroom and three administrative
offices were built onto the existing structure.
