Dr. P's Read for Facts
Dr. P's Read for Facts is a reading motivational program designed to promote student reading of nonfiction books.

LOVE-A-BOOK

Love-A-Book is a donation program designed to give faculty, students, parents, and friends of Alpha Intermediate School an opportunity to choose books from the Love-A-Book shelf and donate them to the school library.

LIBRARY CADETS

This student assistance group practices information skills, develops responsibility and good citizenship habits, and provides services to the school community through various library-related tasks.

 

MINIATURE TREE FESTIVAL

During December, students are invited to participate in the Miniature Tree Festival. Ornaments inspired by the plot, illustrations, or characters in a book are used to decorate miniature Christmas trees. The trees are displayed in the library for several days during December for library users to enjoy.

NEWBERY SCHOLARS newberyscholar

Newbery Scholars is a reading enrichment program available to students at Alpha Intermediate School.  Through this program, students have the opportunity to read award-winning literature, to develop literary skills, and  to utilize higher-level thinking skills.

TECHNAUTS

Technauts provide computer-related services to students and teachers while developing computer skills, responsibility, and pride in service to the school community.

TIDY TOOLS

Tidy Tools is AI Library's Kids Care service learning project for the 2001 school year. Cleaning supplies for the Morristown-Hamblen Public Library are being collected.

 

VOL READERS

Students who read three Volunteer State Book Award nominees for the current year and successfully complete an Accelerated Reader test on those books are named Vol Readers. Vol Readers are recognized with certificates displayed on the Vol Reader Wall until the end of the school year. Students also receive a reward and participate in voting to choose the nominee which will receive the Volunteer State Book Award.
