As required by Public Chapter 892, this is a listing of the state and district mandated assessments for the 2025-26 school year.
2025-26 District Mandated Assessments
Grade 2 TCAP Assessment
Purpose and Use – This test is given to help measure how much a 2nd grade student grows academically over the course of a school year and indicates readiness for 3rd Grade work.

AP EXAMS
Purpose and Use - Advanced Placement (AP) is a program created by the College Board, which offers college-level curricula and examinations to high school students. American colleges and universities often grant placement and course credit to students who obtain high scores on the
examinations.
Date of Administration – May 2026
Grades Administered – 9-12 in AP Courses only
Results to Parents and Students – Students will receive an email from the College Board in early July telling them how and where to access their scores.
PreACT 8/9 for Grade 8
Purpose and Use – The PreACT 8/9 is a standardized test administered by ACT that establishes a baseline measurement of a student’s college and career readiness as they get ready to enter high school. It is used to help place students in 9th Grade courses and provide data to drive instruction.

Pre-ACT for Grade 10
Purpose and Use – The Pre-ACT is a standardized test administered by ACT that establishes a measurement of a student’s readiness for the ACT. Scores are used by teachers and students to target areas identified as needing remediation prior to taking the ACT as Juniors.

District Benchmark Assessments
Purpose and Use – To assess student mastery of the state content standards to inform instruction and allow teachers and principals to adjust and individualize instruction. These assessments do not count for grades.

Grades Administered – 2-HS
Results to Parents and Students – Results are for the use of school staff to improve, adjust, and individualize instruction. Results will be provided to students and will be available to parents upon request.
ASVAB
Purpose and Use – The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a widely used multiple-aptitude test battery. As an aptitude test, the ASVAB measures student strengths, weaknesses, and potential for future success. The ASVAB also provides students with career information for various civilian and military occupations and is an indicator for success in future endeavors.

Results to Parents and Students – Students will receive individual score reports within six to eight weeks of testing.

RTI2 Universal Screening
Purpose and Use - These screenings are mandated by state policy and help support our “Response to Instruction and Intervention” (RTI2) initiative. Students who demonstrate a need for intervention are required by state policy to participate in progress monitoring testing every two weeks.
Dates of Administration
- Fall: August 12-29, 2025
- Winter: December 1, 2025 - January 30, 2026
- Spring: March 30 - May 8, 2026
Grades Administered - These assessments are administered three times per year to all students in grades K-12 during times known as “Universal Screenings.”
Results to Parents and Students -These results will be utilized by school personnel to tailor the design of each child’s intervention. Students who are making expected progress are identified as Tier I. Those students who are identified through RTI2 as Tier II or Tier III are in need of intervention. Parents of students identified as Tier II or Tier III will be notified through written
communication, conference, phone call, or email.
TCAP English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies Grades 3-8
Purpose and Use - The TCAP tests are designed to assess true student understanding and not just basic memorization and test-taking skills. TCAP measures student understanding of our state standards.

End of Course Exams (EOCs) (Grades 9-12)
Purpose and Use - The TCAP EOC tests are designed to assess true student understanding and not just basic memorization and test-taking skills. TCAP specifically measures student understanding of our state standards. TCAP EOC assessments are also given to help measure how much a student grows academically in a particular content area:
- English I/II
- Algebra I/Geometry/Algebra II
- U.S. History
- Biology
Fall Course Test Administration Window (Computer-based) – December 1-18, 2025
Spring Course Test Administration Window (Computer-based) – April 13 - May 5, 2026
Grades Administered – Grades 9-12 for students taking EOC courses and Grade 8 for students taking Alg. I. in middle school
Results to Parents and Students – Score reports from the 2025-26 school year for EOC assessments will be provided to districts in Fall 2026 to distribute to parents.
TCAP-ALT for ELA and Math
Purpose and Use - The TCAP-ALT is the English language arts and math assessment for students in grades 3–8 and grade 11 with the most significant cognitive disabilities. TCAP-ALT is administered online by the teacher. This test is given to help measure how much a student grows academically over the course of a school year.

- Spring: February 2 - May 15, 2026
Results to Parents – Parents will receive individual performance reports from SY25-26 in Fall 2026.
TCAP-ALT for Science and Social Studies

ELPA21
Purpose and Use - English Learners will take the ELPA21 to determine language proficiency. ELPA21 assesses students in the four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Test Administration Window – February 2 - March 20, 2026

Results to Parents – District will receive results in early summer. Parents will receive individual student reports in the fall during the first week of school.

ACT for Juniors
Purpose and Use - Students in Tennessee are required to take a college entrance exam (either the ACT or SAT) in the eleventh grade. This is now a graduation requirement for students seeking a regular or honors diploma. Districts in Tennessee contract with ACT to provide an opportunity to take the ACT at their own school during the school day at no cost to the student.
Date of Administration – March 10 - April 17, 2026

Results to Parents - ACT test results are provided to districts in the late spring. Students receive their results directly from ACT.
ACT Senior Retake
Purpose and Use – This is an opportunity for seniors who took the ACT as juniors to retake the ACT and improve their scores. If a senior missed taking the ACT for the first time in their junior year, they can take the test on the Senior Retake date.
Date of Administration – September 30 - November 7 2025
Grades Administered – 12th Graders
Results to Parents – Students receive ACT test results directly from ACT.
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP)
Purpose and Use - NAEP assessments are administered uniformly using the same sets of test booklets across the nation. NAEP results serve as a common metric for all states and selected urban districts. The assessment stays essentially the same from year to year, with only carefully documented changes. This permits NAEP to provide a clear picture of student academic
progress over time. In even-numbered years, NAEP measures Tennessee student’s academic achievement against students in other states also taking this test.
Test Administration Window - January 27 - March 7, 2026
Grades Administered - Grades 4, 8, and 12 (NCES selects a sample of schools that reflect the varying demographics of each state). Within each selected school, students are chosen at random. Every student has the same chance of being chosen—regardless of race or ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, status as an English language learner, or any other factors.
