Special Services
The Special Services Department provides special education services to students found to have learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, sensory or physical disabilities, autism, giftedness, or behavior disorders according to the eligibility standards established by the Tennessee Department of Education. Services are provided by licensed teachers, certified professional staff, and trained paraprofessionals in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), U. S. Department of Education regulations, and Tennessee law and regulations.
Mission Statement
The Department of Special Services subscribes to the mission of the
Hamblen County Board of Education and remains committed to the goals of the district.
The departmental mission is to proactively identify and accommodate disabilities
on a case-by-case basis while ensuring that each child has access to the
general curriculum to the maximum extent possible.
