Summer Reading Program
Main Page Image

Reading research indicates that children's reading ability declines between the end of one school year and the beginning of the next; however, this can be prevented by reading throughout the summer.  The summer break is a terrific time for readers to explore topics and books of their own interest.  Reading 20-30 minutes a day promotes students' vocabulary and reading development during the summer and can be a wonderful activity for rainy days, household errand running, etc.  The Hamblen County Department of Education is pleased to offer a summer reading program for our district students.

You may find a parent letter including additional information and other necessary documents used to document your student's summer reading at the left under the Summer Reading Documents link.

Take your child to the Morristown-Hamblen Library this summer.
