The Hamblen County Department of Education appreciates community donations of computers and computer equipment . However, it is not always in the best interest of the school system to accept donated computers/computer equipment. These computers often require additional expenditures of time, money, and resources for the school or the school system. Current minimum system requirements include: Macintosh Platform Intel Processor with OSX (10.7 or better) with a processor speed of 2.0 GHz or faster. * minimum of 1 GB RAM * minimum 40 GB hard drive * 10/100 Ethernet card * sound capabilities
Windows Platform Windows/Intel computers with at least If your equipment meets or exceeds these minimum requirements, please contact the school directly to make your donation. If you do not have a specific school in mind, you may contact the Department of Instructional Technology. Also, be sure to remove all your personal files from your hard drive before offering a computer for donation; include documentation and installation CDs for system software; and be prepared to provide the recipient full rights concerning the use and disposal of the computer. A letter of receipt may be requested from the school/district for tax purposes. This letter may contain a list of the donated items, but will not specify a dollar value for your gift. |
