Arnie Bunch Resume'

Mr. Arnold W. Bunch, Jr. is the Superintendent of Hamblen County Schools. He started his tenure as
Superintendent 11 July 2022. The Hamblen County School District has 18 schools (11 elementary
schools, 4 middle schools, 2 high schools and an alternative school) with approximately 10,000 students
and 1,700 employees. The Hamblen County Department of Education is shaping Hamblen County’s
future one student at a time.

Mr. Bunch holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy,
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University Fresno, and a Master of
Science in National Security Strategy from National War College. He is a graduate of the United States
Air Force Test Pilot School. Mr. Bunch retired as a Command Pilot with more than 2,500 flying hours in
B-52s, B-2s, KC-135s, F-16s, T-38s and others.
Prior to starting his current position, Mr. Bunch served in the United States Air Force for 38 years retiring
in the rank of General. In his final position, he served as the Commander of Air Force Materiel
Command where he was responsible for installation and mission support, discovery and development,
test and evaluation, life cycle management services and sustainment of virtually every major Air Force
weapon system. The command employs approximately 89,000 and manages $60 billion of budget
authority annually.
Mr. Bunch was born in Hamblen County and is a graduate of Morristown-Hamblen High School East. He
is married to the former Ms. Caroline Jones, also originally from Hamblen County. They have 2 sons, a
daughter in law and 2 granddaughters.
